This blog part of my new series on Creative Gift Giving. This gift, called perfect pairs is a great idea for a Bridal/Wedding shower. This week I will talk about the contents of the basket with pictures and next week I will discuss coming up with the stores for each pair.
I made this gift for my cousin and now cousin-in-law for her bridal shower based on a perfect pair Pinterest post I saw last fall.
Between that and the perfect cheese board that I saw on the couples registry as well as a wine stopper on their list for the Wine and Cheese perfect pair and I had the beginnings of a perfect gift.
The premise of the gift is are to give things that are "Perfect Pairs inspired by Jay and Stacy" (the wedding couple). So I made a list of some perfect pairs to go with my Wine and Cheese pairing that was on the registry.
This included:
Paper and Pen
Soap and Lotion
Beer and Pretzels
Peanut Butter and Chocolate
Salt and Pepper
Fork and Spoon
Candle and Flame
I came up with others but these are the ones I used in this gift. For paper and pen I purchased a nice pen with a set of stationary in their wedding color of Tiffany Blue (my cousin in law works at Tiffany's).
Soap and Lotion was a pump set of the pair that came in a stand holder in a light ocean breeze scent (to go with the blue coloring)
For Beer and Pretzels I got a bag of pretzels as well as a really nice silver (other wedding color) beer bottle opener shaped like a beer bottle.
With Fork and Spoon I didn't want to just get a plain old kitchen fork and spoon because they would have that so instead I got bamboo salad tossers which were shaped like a giant fork and spoon.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate was very easy because the best example of this perfect pair was Reese's Peanut butter cups. I got a two pack so it was another pair of things.
Last I got, to go with the owl wine stopper, a set of Salt and Pepper shakers shaped like owls once again in blue.
These were my pairs. Now for presentation.
In college I was a Creative Writing major so any opportunity to write I am all over it. I decided to make cards shaped like another pair of items, mittens, also in blue. On the front I wrote the name of the pair and one the inside I made up a story about them.
Most of them were easy stories to write but some took a little more thought process. However that is for next weeks blog which is going to be about writing the perfect Perfect Pair Stories. This will include the stories I wrote for the items as well as a creative story I wrote on the Couple that inspired this gift. Hope you will join us back for this blog posting next Wednesday.
